How many of us wish that we were born in another era or wondered if life could have been simple with no worries. No bills to pay, no important meetings to attend, no deadlines, no nothing which causes stress and strain in our lives. We keep looking at pictures of those places which we want to go after we retire or get a leave from work. There are few people brave enough just to leave their jobs for one or two years with a backpack and just travel while they are young. I don’t know why people wait to go in these cruise ships when they become old and wrinkly. No offence. But it couldn’t it be more fun to buy a one way ticket to the place of your choice and just get lost but in a good way and not get in trouble.
I have seen in Discovery and other channels where people are doing this. Why many Maldivians aren’t willing to do these crazy acts just leave with a back pack on "mirey furaa dhoaniga" to see the islands and experience their life styles. Or even learn to survive on your own in a deserted island. Speaking of it I recently saw this Maldivian reality series which shows how a person can survive when they get stranded. Luckily this guy got stranded with his handy dandy swiss army knife and even at one point he mentioned how a wet suit could help while fishing and out of no where he was wearing one.
Coming back to the point, us Maldivians are becoming so materialistic, working their ass off like robots to get what they want. It’s good that everyone has a goal to achieve but once in a while everyone should stop and just relax. Remember that there was a time when we earned just enough to put a roof our head and to satisfy our hunger but in the same time we were so fulfilled and happy. Wasn’t that what our forefathers taught us, to live a healthy life with no stress …… island style; D

Because we Maldivians have forgotten our roots...
A few times I thought of traveling to atolls all by myself but it's not easy to make it a reality yet. We need to have a better, reliable transport system and information about available accommodation in islands. Now the system is for people to go to harbour, talk to dhoni captains and see if they would take you. When reaching the island if you don't know a single person a tent in 'valuthere' would do but the fear of being raped by a dozen men is just too scary.
living island style.. is a dream now. The islands are way too dangerous for ppl to be alone or let family live alone. the govt has been too soft on crime so its no longer an option for small families to survive alone in the privacy of their house. Now it has to be either Male' or living with the extended family. Either way there is no privacy or real motivation for housing sector to grow because of the precarious security situation.
the island style can become a reality its like we have forgotten who we are. but anyone who is willing to go should know how to take care of themselves and not to trust strangers cox its not the same crime free Maldives anymore. and yes all the islands are not accessible if you don't have the right contacts, which is the case for most of us.
Just wanna say thank you for the information that you have been sharing. Life's Too Good Just discovered your site and truly appreciate what you are doing.
